FHU EBAY
Your range on eBay – without maintaining it twice
eBay brings reach that your own shop doesn’t have. FHU EBAY lists your shop products, keeps prices and stock up to date and uses eBay’s official interface to do so.

The problem
Two systems, twice the work
A product in your shop has a name, a description, images, a price and a stock level. On eBay the same product needs the same details – plus an eBay category, plus the item specifics eBay requires, plus a layout for the description.
If you maintain everything twice, sooner or later you only maintain it once. Then prices drift apart, sold-out products stay online, and a sales channel turns into a nuisance.

- Name
- Description
- Images
- Price €229.00
- Stock 20
- Filters brand, colour, motif
- eBay category
- item specifics
- description layout
Maintained twice: prices drift apart, sold-out items stay online.
eBay brings reach that your own shop doesn’t have. But listing every product by hand and updating it after every price change simply doesn’t pay off.
List with one click
Select products from your shop and list them as eBay listings – with images, description, price and stock.
Keep up to date
Prices, stock, descriptions and images can be updated for many listings at once. You choose what gets transferred.
Everything at a glance
Your shop products and your active eBay listings in one overview – including the products that aren’t on eBay yet.
Category mapping
Set it up once, use it for good
Shop category meets eBay category
eBay has its own deeply nested category tree with tens of thousands of entries. Finding the right category for every product is the real drudgery of listing.
So it is mapped once – I set this up for your range: your shop category gets its eBay category. All products in this category are sorted correctly automatically – including the ones that don’t even exist yet. Where a category alone isn’t enough, search terms from the product name refine the mapping: “school bag” and “pencil case” sit in the same category in your shop, but belong in different places on eBay.
- The search term from the product name
- The eBay category all matching products go to
- Add further mappings – individual products can also be mapped to a different eBay category on their own
- The categories of your eBay shop are mapped as well
1234Item specifics from your shop filters
For each category, eBay requires certain item specifics – brand, colour, motif, dimensions. If required details are missing, eBay rejects the listing; if recommended ones are missing, it is found less often.
These details have long been in your shop as filters. Which shop fields become which eBay item specifics is something I define during setup. From then on, FHU EBAY takes every filter of a product as an item specific of the same name, plus colour, pattern, dimensions and weight from the additional fields (Zusatzfelder), the brand, the EAN and the manufacturer information.
- Unit price, ISBN and manufacturer part number are passed on as item specifics too
- If a value is longer than eBay allows, it is shortened automatically instead of making the listing fail
The application shows with one click which item specifics eBay requires in a category:
- Required – without them eBay rejects the listing
- The permitted values per item specific
- Recommended – if missing, the listing is found less often
- Optional
1234Checked before it goes online
Check first, then publish
A wizard takes you to the listing in three steps: prepare and check, create draft, publish.
- If a category or a required item specific is missing, it shows up next to the product before eBay rejects the listing
- If a recommended item specific is missing, you see a note and decide for yourself
- Content that eBay doesn’t allow is caught in advance: a phone number, an email address or external links count as errors, notes such as “payment in advance” or “collection only” as warnings. This protects you from eBay demoting or blocking listings
- If eBay rejects something, the message appears in plain words next to the product concerned – not as an error code
- Three steps: prepare and check, draft, publish
- Title, price and quantity come from the shop. You make a correction there, not in a second system
- Messages per product, here a missing recommended item specific
123The fees before you publish
Every listing is created as a draft first. eBay states the total insertion fees before you publish – you see messages and fees before any buyer sees anything.
- Insertion fees for all selected listings
- Status draft – not yet visible to buyers
- Only now is anything published
123Update in bulk
Prices changed, stock replenished, description revised: you mark the affected listings and choose what gets transferred – quantity, title, price, template, item specifics, images, eBay shop category.
- The result at a glance
- Show only products with messages, in case eBay has any remarks
- The status per product
- Sold out in your shop? One click sets the eBay listing to “out of stock” without ending it. When new stock arrives, the next quantity update brings it back
- Every night, and at the push of a button whenever you like, the application checks with eBay whether your listings are still active, sold out or ended, and shows the result in the overview
123Templates for the description
The product description on eBay is a page of its own and should match your brand. Instead of building it for each product, there is a template – I create the first one during setup to match your brand. Layout, frame and notes on shipping and returns are fixed; name, description, images and manufacturer logo are filled in. The preview shows the template with a real product from your shop.
Templates can have a time period, recurring every year as at Christmas or one-off for a promotion. If you like, the software checks every night which template applies today and switches your active listings over by itself – titles, prices, images and item specifics stay untouched.
If something changes in your shipping terms, you change the template – not a thousand listings.
Already selling on eBay?
Then nothing needs to be listed again. Your active fixed-price listings without an end date that carry your item number are matched to the corresponding shop products and maintained from your shop from then on.
Shipping, payment, returns
You maintain your eBay policies for shipping, payment and returns as well as your item locations directly in the application. Shipping rules by manufacturer or price determine which shipping policy a product gets – bulky goods from one brand differently from a small parcel, a different shipping method above a certain gross price. A check of the setup shows whether anything is missing, before the first listing fails because of it.
Securely connected
Your eBay account stays in your hands
Official eBay interface
The connection runs through eBay’s official interface. Your eBay password is not stored, and you can revoke access at any time in your eBay account.
Check first, then publish
Every listing is created as a draft first. You see messages and fees before any buyer sees anything.
Update-safe
No files of your shop system are modified. I keep FHU EBAY up to date through Gambio updates.
A worked example
Listing a product on eBay by hand means searching for the category in eBay’s tree, typing brand, colour and dimensions into the item specifics fields, uploading the images and copying the description. At ten minutes per product, 200 products add up to a good thirty hours of work. After that the real burden begins: every price change in the shop has to be repeated on eBay, or the channels drift apart.
With FHU EBAY the categories are mapped once by search term (I take care of that during setup), the item specifics come from your filters, and listing and updating happen in bulk. Your work is reduced to what only you can decide: which products should go on eBay, and on what terms.

Video transcript
Your shop products and your eBay listings in one list. The status shows what is already on eBay. The new school bags don’t have an eBay category yet. One search term is enough. You only have to search eBay’s category tree for it once. Set once: everything with “Schulranzen” (school bag) in its name belongs here, including future products. The matching ones are mapped immediately. eBay requires item specifics for each category. FHU EBAY takes them from your shop filters – what you maintain in the shop appears in the listing. Three new school bags are to go on eBay. FHU EBAY checks every product in advance. Title, price and stock come from the shop. If a recommended detail is missing, it shows here – before eBay ranks the listing lower. With FHU FILTER, a gap like this is closed for all products in one go. You see the insertion fees before anything is published. The listings are online, with images, description and item specifics. Price or stock changed in the shop? You decide which details are transferred. One run updates all selected listings – price and stock are current on eBay.
Works well with
FHU FILTER: every filter value you assign there appears as an item specific in the eBay listing the next time you list or update. If a recommended item specific is missing for many products, you close the gap there in one go.
FHU SEO adds colour, pattern, dimensions, weight and the manufacturer information required by the EU General Product Safety Regulation as additional fields, which FHU EBAY takes over.
Setup and support
I take care of the setup: I install the interface in your shop, connect your eBay account and create the category mappings and templates for your range. No Gambio file is changed in the process. After that, I continue to look after FHU EBAY, including through Gambio updates.
If you have questions, problems or feature requests, I’m happy to help. You can reach me by email at any time.
Note: currently for fixed-price listings without variations on eBay.de.
